Fresh flowers and thoughtful floristry in the heart of Hedon

Customer information

Privacy notice

This notice explains what information we use when you browse, enquire or place an order, why we need it and the choices available to you.

Who is responsible for your information

Katie Louise Acey, a sole trader trading as Floral Curiosity, is the controller for customer and recipient personal information used by the business.

Contact us at floralcuriosity@outlook.com, 01482 818112, or 4 Watmough Arcade, St Augustine's Gate, Hedon, Hull, HU12 8EZ.

Information we use

  • buyer name, email address and telephone number;
  • recipient or collection-contact name, delivery address and postcode;
  • order contents, delivery method and date, and payment status or reference;
  • card messages, flower preferences, exclusions and order instructions;
  • details needed for funeral orders, including the deceased's name, funeral timing, funeral director details, lettering and flower or ribbon choices;
  • correspondence, complaints and support history; and
  • limited security, technical and website-usage records.

Where a buyer supplies recipient or funeral information, that information comes from the buyer. Buyers should only supply what is reasonably needed for the order.

Payment-card details are entered into Stripe's payment interface. Floral Curiosity receives payment status and references but does not ask customers to send card numbers in messages, notes or email.

Why we use it

We use information to take payment, create and fulfil an order, arrange collection or delivery, provide service messages and handle questions or complaints. This is normally necessary for our contract with the buyer.

We use recipient details supplied by the buyer under our legitimate interest in fulfilling the requested gift or delivery. We may also use limited records for fraud prevention, service security and protecting the business, and keep financial records where the law requires it.

We do not use order information for email marketing at launch and do not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects solely by automated means.

Order contact, recipient, delivery and personalisation details are needed to create and fulfil an order. If the required details are not supplied, we may be unable to accept or complete it.

Who receives information

Only people and providers who need information to provide or support the service should receive it. This can include Swan Web for authorised website support; Medusa-backed website and database services; Stripe for payment processing and fraud prevention; Resend for transactional order email; Cloudflare for media and network services; a selected courier or local delivery provider; and the West Hull sister branch when asked to fulfil a West Hull order.

Some providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, we use the provider subject to the relevant legal safeguards and contractual protections.

How long we keep information

We keep information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose collected, including fulfilling the order, resolving a complaint, maintaining security and meeting tax, accounting or other legal requirements. Detailed delivery and personalisation information is not kept simply because a minimum accounting record must be retained.

Website storage and analytics

The website uses browser storage needed to remember a cart, display its item count and show a minimal order receipt after checkout. The receipt cache does not store the recipient address, card message or payment-card details.

We may use cookieless Umami analytics to understand page visits and deliberately limited website actions. We do not send customer names, emails, addresses, card messages or flower instructions to analytics. We do not use advertising trackers at launch.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may ask for access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability or object to processing. Where processing relies on consent, consent can be withdrawn for future processing. Some rights are limited where information must be kept for legal obligations or legal claims.

Your right to object: you may object to processing based on our legitimate interests. Tell us what you object to and why; we will stop unless there are compelling legitimate grounds to continue or the information is needed for legal claims.

Contact Floral Curiosity using the details above. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, although we would appreciate the chance to address a concern first.
